Eye gaze systems

Eye gaze communication

Eye gaze systems allow you to control a computer using your eyes.

The systems all have a camera which detects where on the screen you are looking.  You can use this to select items on screen for communication or for computer control.

Why offer more than one eye gaze system?

There are several eye gaze systems available and they do not all work in exactly the same way.  Different people find that different systems are more effective for them.  We will always try to find the best system for an individual, and having a range of options helps us to do this.  We currently recommend and supply five systems:

  • Alea Intelligaze - for wheelchair users
  • EyeTech TM4 - for wheelchair users
  • LC Eyegaze Edge - for users with good head control
  • Tobii CEye - for wheelchair users
  • Tobii P10 for assessment centres and for users who find other systems difficult to control

Eye gaze with The Grid 2

All these systems use The Grid 2, which has a wide range of options for eye gaze, including:

  • Select with dwell, blink or external switch
  • User-adjustable selection time
  • Selection of ways to show highlight and dwell selection, including option to show/hide the gaze point
  • Eye monitor to provide feedback from camera
  • Rest function to provide a break from eye gaze
