The £27.3 million grant, issued to the Family Fund, will help families to support their loved ones and help make positive changes in their day-to-day lives. Previously, the money has been used for days out, garden play equipment, computers, toys and kitchen appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines.

Now in its fortieth year, the grant has since helped thousands of people with children who have some of the most complex needs – over 50,000 families in England benefiting from last year’s £27m fund alone.

Although they do not fund medical equipment, you may be able to gain financial support for purchasing Smartbox equipment that helps with access to the curriculum, gaming and computer access. Please speak to one of our Assessment Team if you require further information or advice about our equipment.

The Grid 2 comes with a wide selection of ready-made grid sets for communication – from basic symbol grids to advanced text input.

Weighing less than an iPad (just 658g) the device is lightweight and portable and has a bright 10.1″ screen which is encased inside a strong alloy frame and hardwearing Gorilla Glass, making it exceptionally durable.

One of the great features of the SB10 is the instant ‘on/off’ button. This means users can get talking straight away – and for up to 10 hours! The battery life is also a major improvement on other Windows Tablets of this size.

Talking Photographs
we have added a new grid set! This useful set of talking images can be used to fire imagination for work, school or play. If you are an existing Grid Player user, please hit Refresh to download the new grid set to your device.

Text Talker Phrasebook
This grid set replaces the original Text Talker. It includes lots of phrases to enable fast communication for people who can read but not speak. There are also quick-response buttons on every grid for one word answers to questions.

Retina Displays and New Languages
Grid Player 1.4 now supports the retina display available on the latest iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch devices, giving you higher resolution grids.

This update also adds two new languages, Arabic and Polish, bringing our total number of languages supported to 13.

Where have my keyboards gone?
For anyone creating a new online grids account you may notice that the keyboards are no longer included with Symbol Talker A and B or Text Talker. In order to continue offering Grid Player as a free app, we have had to adapt the free resources.

Existing account holders will not lose keyboards from their grid sets. For any new Grid Player users, keyboards can be still be added via The Grid 2.

Improved Access, Greater Independence
The Tobii PCEye Go runs on standard Windows computers, so users can access any application that is usually controlled by a computer mouse, including, writing emails, social media interaction (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.), playing games, watching videos and plenty more!

Sleeker Design
85% smaller than the previous model and discreetly designed for smaller desktop screens and laptops, the PCEye Go is powered by a single USB connection for a quicker set up, making it easy to transfer from one device to another.

Better Tracking
Armed with the largest track box available on the market, thePCEye Go can track varying eye colours, glasses, contact lenses, lighting conditions and a large scope of movement such as moving from lying to sitting position.

Compatibility

This offers the best of both worlds to our eye gaze users. The C Series provides an all in one system mounted on the wheelchair with no wires, loud speech and extra features such as SMS and environment control. The PCEye Go can then be mounted on a home PC which may well be a more powerful computer with a larger screen.
